Auburn man arrested for unlawful breaking and entering, theft of property

AUBURN, Ala. - On Aug. 29, 2025, Auburn Police arrested Dante Jamal Buchanan, age 21, currently residing in Auburn, Alabama, on felony warrants charging him with unlawful breaking & entering into a vehicle and theft of property second degree.
The arrest stems from Auburn Police responding to a call reporting a subject discharging a firearm near the 200 block of West Longleaf Drive on Aug. 29. Responding officers located the subject and identified him as Dante Jamal Buchanan. Police determined the gunfire was not directed toward any persons or property.
During the response, officers discovered stolen property in a residence associated with Buchanan. A search warrant was executed at the residence and additional stolen property was recovered. Among the items recovered was property that was stolen during an auto burglary that occurred between Aug. 22 and 23 near the 2000 block of Downs Way.
Buchanan was arrested and charged with unlawful breaking and entering into a vehicle and theft of property second degree. The investigation regarding other recovered items is ongoing. Buchanan was transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $6,000 bond.
All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
